I've heard critiques of 90s environmentalism like Captain Planet of the solutions being too individual vs. systemic, and I think that overlooks what was really important - imbuing a sense of collective responsibility in young people.

I know pointing out conservative hypocrisy feels incredibly futile, but I keep thinking about your point about making the moral argument rather than a political one to fundamentalists. Truly, what do they really think regarding the value of human life?

I would expect a back and forth on what "safety" means in this context or the legal limitations of castle doctrine, but instead, "I should be legally allowed to kill people who mess with my stuff."

A formative experience was a conversation with a Texan in a bar on castle doctrine. I asked if there was no fear for your safety, should you still be able to murder someone for attempting to steal from your home? I thought he would at least equivocate before answering, but he gave a hard Yes.
