Depends on how much patterning you want. For a simple hat, I like the Sockhead hat or Barley Light, and both are free on Ravelry. For a simple to knit/memorize pattern, I like Violet Waffles. Technically it’s a DK pattern, but it’s so simple that it’s a breeze to convert to fingering weight.
