There was a great article in Jacobin back in 2016 explaining why it is damn near impossible to win 3rd party. I think Ackerman wrote it. After I read that, I quit harping on starting YET ANOTHER party; remember, we have quite a few "3rd Party" and when have any of them won a national election???

Because we (leftists, centrists, BIPOC, women, Gay, Trans) are not really people to their way of thinking. We do not matter. Only the MAGA crowd matters. Only their pain is real, only they should be mourned, and celebrated. The rest of America simply exists to work our asses off for billionaires.

The two parties have legislated themselves into permanency. The only solution is to take over one of them. MAGA took over Republican Party. Now, WE have to take over Democratic Party. No way around this. The only way to fight fascism is democratic socialism.

My parents loved being parents, they just struggled with being married. My dad emphasized that I could be anything I could dream of being, and my mom showed me how to beat the odds (she was blind from age 3, learned braille, was the only one in her family to graduate college). I miss them so much!

People choose jobs in most industries based on their ideals. If your ideal is to take care of others, that is where you end up. We call them "service" workers, but that is so simplistic. I say this as an RN, yet another altruistic service role.

It amuses me that I consider Bulwark a key part of my community, and have come to cherish Sarah, JVL, Tim and Sam as much as I do Bernie and AOC.

This would work. I live in a rural red area and it always amazes me how most people still get the local paper up here.

Excellent show! So much of what is on social media is just alarmist and offers little insight, just serves to increase anxiety. THIS made me feel informed and prepared to deal with these fascist techbros.

Did you know there is a sangha that meets every Weds in Placerville, and that Ayya Santacitta used to reside in a monastery nearby? There is also a totally online dharma study group led by nuns that once lived at that monastery. Sierra Insight Sangha.

Please follow @gilduran.com and support his journalism on this techbro plot. It is the missing puzzle piece that fits into Project 2025 and explains why all those techbro billionaires went MAGA.

We CAN hope to influence the people who usually don't vote (why would they? Their material conditions don't change, why bother?), the folks who aren't real tuned in to politics until shit hits their fans, etc. But decorum has to go out the window. The opposition is fascists and billionaires.

I live in a very big, very conservative county in California (only L.A. and S.F. are deep blue; we're a big rural state with typical rural Trumpers).
While you can always talk with people and genuinely try to figure out why they believe, don't think you can convert them. Most of them are lost.
