Repping District 37 | 💯 Grassroots | ❌Real estate or lobbyist 💵 | She/Her | Managed by our crew & Sandy
🦃 Our team was able to give out over 400 turkeys and pantry staples at our giveaway this past Saturday!

We’re proud to have supported District 37 families through bridging the gap to food access this holiday season.

I introduced Intros 1419 & 1420 to move old liens to a public land bank and improve transparency on unresolved liens.

Grateful to the Abolish the Tax Lien Sale Coalition for leading this fight!
October 15, 2025 at 7:29 PM
For over 20 years, NYC’s tax lien sale has displaced countless homeowners in low-income communities of color.

Since September 2024, I’ve co-chaired the Tax Lien Task Force to explore alternatives. Last week, I introduced two bills to address the harm.

Shoutout to the San Antonio DOT for showing me their cool pavement pilot in action, which has now expanded!

By treating the hottest blocks across districts, surface temps went down by 10°F and ambient by 3°F. Climate solutions in practice work!

🌍🌡️ NYC could be getting cooler! With the passage of my bill, Intro 928, the city will pilot Cool Pavement to help bring the temperature down.

Combating extreme heat means investing in smart, low-cost tools to build a cooler, more resilient city!

As the Trump admin attacks worker protections nationwide, I’m proud that today we passed my bill, Intro 780.

My bill expands safe and sick leave for more than 3 million New Yorkers, giving them more time to care for themselves and their families.
September 25, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Today we passed Intro 621, the first bill in my #NoLockouts Act.

Illegal lockouts are harassment. With this bill, tenants can fight back and landlords will be held accountable!

🚨This Saturday! Join me and @cmjengutierrez.bsky.social for a day of action as we stand up against ICE!

As part of a joint effort with the @nycprogressives.bsky.social, help us share Know Your Rights materials, legal resources, and more across Bushwick. tinyurl.com/BushwickAgainstICE

Between all the L’s the Mayor took last week (3 veto overrides) that you might’ve missed the biggest one: he also lost in court trying to bring ICE to Rikers.

We won't allow this rogue agency to tear families apart with impunity.
September 16, 2025 at 4:41 PM
I also passed Intro 1242-A, one of the first bills to come from the Lippman Commission’s Blueprint to Close Rikers.

It establishes clear leadership and accountability for closing Rikers Island within City Hall and puts us on track to achieve the vision of a Renewable Rikers.

Today we proved that people power and worker solidarity will always beat the 1%. Dark money and backroom deals won't win. Grocery delivery apps built their profits on poverty wages. Today, we correct this.

All workers deserve dignity and fair pay.
September 10, 2025 at 9:33 PM
Not only did a supermajority of the @council.nyc.gov pass Int. 1135, but his own agency enthusiastically supports the bill. If the Mayor wants to lose yet another battle with the Council we’ll oblige him.

Not sure what’s more shameful: Mayor Adams doing the bidding of a multi-billion-dollar corporation; breaking a 2022 promise to workers; or abandoning a largely immigrant workforce already under federal attack.

Since becoming Chair of @council.nyc.gov's Criminal Justice Committee, I’ve heard from countless concerned Probation Officers raising alarm about the agency’s direction. For 15 months, they’ve asked for help. Yesterday’s hearing finally brought their concerns to light. 🧵

Next Monday I'll be chairing an oversight hearing with a focus on DOP's organizational strategy.

We'll be digging into their operations, which play a key role in keeping people out of our city jails and setting them up for success.

Tenants shouldn’t have to wait weeks or months for basic repairs to their units.

That’s why I also introduced Reso 990 urging the state to pass S.5622A to strengthen the 7A program and make it easier for tenants to get critical repairs and live with dignity.
July 14, 2025 at 11:48 PM
Too many New Yorkers are forced to live in unsafe, illegal basement units, which puts their lives at risk.

That's why @CMShekarK and I introduced Reso 991, urging NYS to pass A.597/S.2507 and expand the basement conversion pilot program to include communities like East NY.
July 14, 2025 at 11:48 PM
Today we passed my bill Intro 1135, which brings pay parity to tens of thousands of third-party grocery delivery workers.

These multimillion-dollar apps built their profits on poverty wages. Today, we correct this.

All workers deserve dignity and fair pay.

Looking towards District 37, we were able to secure $408 million dollars, inclusive of our City of Yes commitments!

We invested deeply into our communities with funds going towards education, public safety, health, housing, infrastructure and more!
June 30, 2025 at 11:12 PM
As Chair of the Criminal Justice Committee, the baselining and restoration of funds for Alternatives to Incarceration ensures that all New Yorkers involved in the criminal justice system will have continue to have access to them.

ATIs are crucial to our path to closing Rikers.

This year, the @nycprogressives.bsky.social achieved major investments in public safety, frontline workers and mental health services in our city.

With @nycspeakeradams.bsky.social support and the many advocates who informed our campaign, we’re moving our city from a state of crisis to one of care.
June 30, 2025 at 11:12 PM
Today, @council.nyc.gov passed the FY26 budget and once again, the Council has defended the social services our communities depend on as a lifeline.
June 30, 2025 at 11:12 PM
We passed my Resolution 931, which condemns the President’s racist deportation agenda of disappearing immigrants to foreign prisons without due process.

As we face an unprecedented assault on our Constitutional rights, this majority women of color council is fighting back.

Today, I stopped by Duncan Genns Senior Center with @nycspeakeradams.bsky.social to visit the incredible seniors and staff who call Bushwick home.

Our older adults are a cornerstone of our community, and I’m proud of the Council’s ongoing investment in their centers and services.
