I was going to recommend McIntyre's "The Spy and the Traitor" and also "The Siege." So good my teen read them instead of playing video games!

It doesn't help that companies like Westlaw and Bloomberg are trying to push AI down users' throats. I have a friend who works at one of these companies and she said management (non-lawyers) are forcing research staff to use AI constantly even though the staff can see the product is inaccurate.

The first three pages of the linked complaint are worth a read. Congratulations to the unions and Democracy Forward for their incredible work defending our democracy.

Determined to exert ideological control over the nation’s core institutions, the Trump administration is engaged in tactics that violate the central norms of our democracy, the United States Constitution, and duly enacted federal laws.

Unfortunately, today, the Trump administration is seeking to eclipse this fixed star, through a scheme of targeting, bullying, and unconstitutional actions aimed at institutions of higher education across the country.

Thank you for all of your work defending democracy and the rule of law. You are absolute giants and our country owes a great debt to you. I urge anyone with money to donate to send it your way.

UC didn't fight, the staff unions did. The complaint they filed is an amazing piece of work: www.courtlistener.com/docket/71360...

Yes, Trader Joe's is doing this. They joined SpaceX and Starbucks and Tesla and are trying to gut not only workers'rights but also kneecap the administrative agencies.
October 11, 2025 at 7:42 PM
They are also union busters and joined SpaceX and in pushing a bullshit legal theory alleging the National Labor Relations Act is unconstitutional. They are doing real damage to democracy so I don't shop there.

Federal workers and unions are litigating and/or funding many of the big cases challenging the administration's assault on rule of law, data privacy, civil rights, etc. If Americans stand by while Trump destroys those unions we will lose some of the most effective means to resist future assaults.

On July 3rd EPA employees signed a similar letter called "Stand Up for Science" and were put on administrative leave. They are still on leave. We must defend these public workers who are sacrificing everything to warn us.

They also cancelled contracts for tiny bargaining units (I represent one of them). I am guessing they will get around to cancelling NTEU's contract soon.

One thing everyone can do right now is call your member of Congress or visit them and demand they sign discharge petition #6 to force HR 2550 to a vote. That bill reverses this and is cosponsored by an outright House majority (222 cosponsors). And the petition has 209 signatures. We need 9 more.

So weird that NTEU didn't get the notice. Any idea why they were excluded?
