The Supreme Court has just ruled that MCPS parents can opt their children out of lessons that include LGBTQIA+ characters. This should not change the direction of our MCPS curriculum content one iota. 1/4

Great to spend some time talking to business owners in Burtonsville Crossing with Sen. Zucker and Del. Bernice Mireku-North today! Enjoyed lunch at Pho Wheels, toured the soon-opening Domain fitness, and visited Eggspectations and others.

Handed out a couple hundred constituent contact cards and Know Your Rights flyers in Spanish, Amharic & Dari at the East County Expo!

Thank you Kingdom Fellowship,
Manna, Black Physicians Healthcare Network, & more for connecting residents to resources alongside MoCo Rec, Public Libraries, & MCDOT!

Our community showed up and showed out to scare ICE out of our communities TWICE this morning.
Nuestra comunidad se presentó y se manifestó para asustar a ICE y sacarlo de nuestras comunidades DOS VECES esta mañana. 💪

Proud that our students will not sit by or stay silent as their Blair classmate was taken by ICE. We cannot stay quiet and hope for the best when the worst is already happening. It’s time to flex. To organize. To work harder and smarter. It’s all hands on deck.

A deeply meaningful groundbreaking today: a new Burtonsville Elementary, after 10 years of community advocacy. We are getting it done!

I joined Blair HS students to learn how to be a @montgomeryparks.bsky.social Weed Warrior, cutting off invasive vines at the roots to save our trees! Volunteers work year-round to remove invasive plants from our parks. Without them, our county would look very different!

Giving Know Your Rights info to residents & shops is one way to help ensure everyone — regardless of immigration status — knows their rights (& their neighbors’ & coworkers’) with immigration enforcement.

Thanks CASA & @dcmigrantmutualaid.org for helping organize this weekend’s East County canvass!

That feeling when you visit a family who was slated for eviction, settled, just in time, in their new home 💕☕️

I’m so grateful to community members (Project SAFE, Muslim Community Center, ISWA, Enclave Tenant Assn.), County HHS/SEPH staff, and members of my team working to keep families safe.

The fact that Black students and community members had to advocate for years for anti-Black racism to be taken seriously at Wootton HS is disgraceful.

This moment must serve as a call to action.

My statement on recent events and a pattern of anti-Black racism at Wootton:
