1st time I broke down was the morning after the election while thinking through how I would tell my then 16 year old Black daughter that he won.

Two days after the election my mom texted me asking me if she had to start walking around with her passport. I immediately called her & asked why she asked.
She said because she can’t hide being Latina. Her body & voice will give her away. It was the 2nd time after the election that I broke down.
