There are 100% people like this in Oklahoma, where it seemed like they were from. It was incredibly stilted and odd, that video. But the folks are real and it is that frustrating to speak with them. Not all. But some.

Such a good point. The absolute petulance of southern states to opposing views was always shocking (see: Charles Sumner), there was a clear insistence that EVERYONE had to approve of slavery or they were “radical.”

Another aspect of the history lost thanks to Lost Cause revisionism.

I once worked for a quasi-content mill marketing firm and you could just buy a Forbes editorial spot for a client like it was an ad in the paper. I was under the impression it was a little more serious until then.
