Philadelphia soul owes much to record producer Thom Bell – born today in 1943. He worked with dozens who were affiliated with the Philadelphia Int’l label – and Bell’s production artistry with The Stylistics & The Spinners during the 1970s took both to the top of the charts. Bell passed in 2022.
