Standing next to the Thomas Tompion clock (c. 1690) in the Fitzwilliam Museum. He is known as the 'father of English clockmaking'. It has a complex astrolab and a 24 hour chapter ring. A milestone object in the history of time keeping - simply priceless.

Not too many meteors, but a nice image of the Milky Way and I see Andromeda in there, too (taken with a 14mm f1.8 + Sony A7R, for those interested!)

Accidental comet capture in this 14mm view...it's bright! I'll be hoping for clear skies tonight for the Orionids.

Ella, my beautiful beagle (also known as Club Dog) finally left us today, after nearly 16 amazing years. She was one of the most charming and loving hounds you could ever hope to meet. I shall miss her terribly. She enriched my life every day as my constant companion. Good bye, little one. ❤️

Lucky timing - aircraft and contrail in front of the full Moon this evening. Sadly, I didn't have my tripod - but the clouds make up for a lot!

Clock repair done: an especially lovely old painted dial longcase, with a rolling moon. Perfect in every detail! The movement was caked in dust and oil, last run in the 1950s. What a pleasure to start it up again.

I'm very pleased to announce that the Northern California DX Foundation (NCDXF) has made a grant to Club Log of approx $9,000 to cover new server equipment costs. This summer, all the hardware will be refreshed and new systems will go in. Last update was in 2019 (also with their help!). TU NCDXF 🙌

Weltron spaceball update. I've finished replacing the old incandescent bulbs with LEDs, and fitted a Bluetooth->FM module inside so I can stream music. I added some dial back lights, replaced the antenna, and generally polished the case. It's ideal for taking into the garden and sounds fantastic. 🕺
