After my first mission trip, I'd sit in a restaurant and think about the families in Guatemala who walk two miles for clean water. I'd find myself complaining about her WiFi being slow, then remember children sitting alone in silence for hours every day.

In December I visited a senior living community and delivered a talk on the importance of clowning, and as part of that presentation handed out clown noses. Yesterday, Esther sent me this picture of how happiness can ripple from one event to another. Always spread happiness.

We’re so busy debating how to fix the world that we miss the broken heart next to us. I’ve watched a napkin rose heal more pain than a thousand online arguments. People over politics. Always!

The world is loud right now. Everyone's shouting about everything. But I've learned something in 12 countries: Real change happens when you stop listening to the noise and start seeing the person sitting right in front of you. Our job isn't to increase the noise, it's to make change in spite of it.

Bubbles of hope rising in Guatemala today. Sometimes the simple gifts — a smile, a moment of wonder, a shared laugh — can create the most profound connections. As we distribute food resources to families here we find every child’s laughter is a reminder of our shared humanity across all borders.
