My daughter was furloughed, and it is so frustrating to see young scientists’ budding careers get hampered by evil politics! I write my congress people, make noise, but I don’t see how US science is going to avoid a major downturn by the anti-science practices of the current “administration“.

I once confronted a golfer who was driving a whole bucket of balls off a bluff into the ocean. He claimed he went down to pick them up, but most were going into the water. I still find lots washed up on the beach. Plastic pollution - as if we don’t have enough already.

I thought #ShakeAlert was only for mag 6.5 or greater? #MyShake woke me up, but I didn’t feel anything in #PortTownsend. Or maybe my phone sensed shaking even though I was asleep? I’m just trying to figure out exactly how the system works. Had the app 3 yrs and this was my 1st alert.
