Please make sure that you research authors before committing to reading their books.

I found that searching "author name controversy" is the best way to find posts and explanations (if any) & from there decide for yourself!

Title says: "Please Stop Supporting Rebecca Yarros" with smaller text underneath it "And Here's Why An image of Yarros' three books at the bottom Her Misuse of the Gaelic (pronounced Gah-lic) Language Rebecca uses Gaelic terms in her book and has been informed of the wrong pronunciation by an actual Gaelic speaker (see (@ceartguleabhar on Tiktok). She has not researched the Scottish Gaelic language, which is a significant offence to the Celtic community and demonstrates a lack of respect for this minority language and its people. The audiobook still mispronounces the words, and nothing has been done to try and correct this nor has there been an apology by this American Author who once again did no research before implementing the language into her book!!!!! She wants to Translate her books into Hebrew to be able to sell to Israel That is a big indicator of her support of Israel with a publishing deal with them. When confronted about this, she said she does not support ‘war’ and condemns the ‘despicable attack on Israel’. In her post, she does not condemn Israel for what they are doing and does not hold them responsible for the deaths and genocide occurring She mentions that by not translating the book it is a form of ‘Book banning’ (and yes, it is not completely her fault since it is her publisher who sells the rights but she still defends the decision to sell to Israel wholeheartedly) If you STILL want to support this author, even after everything then PLEASE: Buy the books secondhand. Do not promote her or the books on social media. Educate yourself on why you still want to read these books: Is it just to stay with the trend? Listen to Palestinian Voices and donate to families or charities that support them (do that anyway, so many families need our help!) Listen to Scottish Gaelic people and why they are against the series and author. RESEARCH AUTHORS BEFORE BUYING BOOKS - the simplest thing is going online and writing “author name controversy” and then you can decide from there.
