Throwback to when I met Americans while travelling in Spain who directly told me they “don’t want a *European* job, they don’t pay”. They were currently based in Greece. That’s certainly not all American immigrants, and also not only Americans, but the ignorance is quite big in this I think.
This is not just my opinion btw. "I wouldn't work for a Portuguese salary" is verbatim I've heard from someone who is doing exactly what I describe here.
yes but said educated foreigners don't want to work for Portuguese salaries and what ends up happening is that they do remote work for foreign companies, get paid much much more than the average portuguese, and drive prices up

Not great tbh. Madrid is apparently one of the top choices. We already have massive lack of housing, and salaries are not matching rental prices or allow to get a mortgage. It can only get worse...
I know it's almost a meme at this point, and we make fun of Americans who threaten to move to Europe after elections. But... yeah, this time it seems to actually be happening.

The only good thing to come out of all of this Trump turning on Ukraine is that the far right party in Spain is in shambles after party leader sided with Trump. He is getting called a traitor, anti-patriotic, and leadership has turned on him.
It's fascinating to watch on twitter how quickly the European far-right divorced itself from MAGA and the American far-right, and are now posting "Fortress Europe" and "Mare Nostrum" memes. While the European far-left still clings on to the delusion of a benevolent Russia.
