I popped along on Friday to get dug in (sorry). Looking forward to seeing what it looks like by the end of the week.
🌱 Residents are invited to help to create a sensory garden at Oak Road playing fields.
The aim is to create a sensory garden with plants, herbs and vegetables throughout this week, until Friday 31 October.
Sessions will be led daily from 1-3pm. Drop in to get involved!

Felabration! Took five minutes out to visit the special exhibition as part of Black History Month at Wilberforce House. It tells the story of Afrobeat and it's founder, Fela Kuti. Good to see Nigel Taylor narrating the video on Clave too. Go see it while you.

Yesterday I attended Stand's first summer service at the Memorial to Hull's Lost Trawlermen.
It always strikes me that there cannot be many industries that saw 6,000 men die working in it from one area over a period of around 150 years in the way this industry did. We should rightly remember them.

One year on from the day Rishi Sunak called the General Election, who could have seen how the last 12 months would play out? The new govt came in with low expectations but managed to miss them. From winter fuel, PIP and NIC, it has been a bad start. We need so much better.

Spoke at an opening session for UKREiiF, a major event. This was an opportunity to sell Hull to those in the room. I set out just what a brilliant place is and what it has to offer. We want to work with many in moving the city forward and this is part of that effort.

Potentially anyone's guess who will lead both the Conservatives and Labour into the next general election.
Keir Starmer's ratings are down among voters of all parties, including the Reform voters this entire strategy is supposedly designed to win over, but falling massively among those still voting Labour. Down 34 points in just one month
Keir Starmer's net favourability rating has dropped 12pts in a month to -46, his lowest level ever, including a 34pt drop among Labour voters

At today's full council I was confirmed as the leader of the council for the year ahead. This is an important year ahead for the city and the region and I look forward to playing my part in making sure the communities I serve get what they deserve.

I am going to play my part in the party's efforts at standing up to the Reform UK agenda. The sort of reform they want is not in the interests of the people I am elected to represent nor those of the country. Read more about the effort here -

The 'A Mischief of Rats 2025' rats, in aid of the Daisy Appeal, are now in place. This weekend I went along to see two that I sponsored. Already there were visitors coming along to see them, which was great to see.
