Aster family is pretty reliable for interesting ultraviolet photos, Gazania hybrids

Palmer's penstemon in visible light and ultraviolet, notice how the waxy coating reflects the uv so well. No clue what's going on with the colors in the uv photo, in theory it should all be greyscale

Dandelion in uv, the dark center is presumably to attract bees. No clue what wavelength is getting interpreted as yellow by the camera, the center shows it's not visible light leaking in

This firefly petunia looks solid white to you and me, but a bee sees bright UV lines point to the pollen and nectar. This took some effort to take, most lenses are abysmal at UV

Infrared (840nm) is fun, these are solid black in visible light but let infrared right through

No photoshop or filters involved, just a modified camera and ir (840nm) flashlight

I'm tempted to go on a deep dive, to figure out when they decided to switch the colors. This ad from before Campbell's bought the company has them right:

Is posting these still cool?

I built myself a microscope for close up photos, it's fun to tinker with. Optics gets... interesting at close distances. So far I've been focusing on orchid bees, I'm obsessed with the colors
