Evidently at least one athlete managed to get a last minute emergency visa. Great for him, but still seems like a completely unacceptable risk for major sporting events in the U.S!

How is that going to work? How can we even ask athletes to risk coming here under this administration? We should lose these events.

I know competitive climbing is a tiny niche sport, but the U.S. is also supposed to host upcoming soccer World Cup and Olympics.

I understand there are practical considerations and arrangements that produce this outcome, but it’s depressing to feel like huge swaths of the country are just shut out of this kind of intellectual life.
