@climateparentspgmd.bsky.social
Climate Parents is a movement of parents & families advocating #cleanenergy and #climateaction to keep our kids healthy & safe. We are advocating for that in Prince George's County, Maryland.
Very #PGCPSProud to see this month’s issue of School Transportation News with our very own Keba Baldwin on the cover. It included discussion of his efforts to make bus routes more efficient in line with Climate Change Action Plan recommendations.

Unfortunately, new research out shows the increasing physical and mental health burdens our children will experience as climate change continues to worsen. We must act now so things doesn’t get worst for our children and theirs.

HB 182 was a good traffic safety bill, but late on Wed. Sen Sydnor tacked on a rider to shrink school zones to 1/3 mi. This when kids aren’t guaranteed buses if they are within 1.5 mi.

Call your Senator and tell them STOP Sydnor’s 182 Amendment. mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/M...

Great report out from @generation180.bsky.social on solar installation in schools throughout the nation. Unfortunately our neighbors to the east (Anne Arundel) and west (DC) are far out pacing us. PGCPS needs to do better.

Make sure you let your state legislators know you support the renew act. It will hold big polluters accountable while help funding things we need to be resilient, like electric school buses and clean heat pumps for schools.

Thank the Prince George’s County County Council for unanimously passing CB-84, which would authorize stop sign cameras in school zones in Prince George’s. It is another step towards ensuring our kids can safely walk, bike, or roll to school every day.

Voice your support for CB-84 with the Prince George’s County Council! The bill would allow for stop sign cameras in more school zones. It is another step to make it safer for our kids to walk to school.
