Greenpeace Canada climate campaigner capable of boring you about energy transitions, climate solutions and the history of oil industry perfidy. Part-time prof at U of Toronto. Sci-fi aficionada.
The report also noted that O&G companies are allowed to double up on CCS and Clean Economy tax credits, so the public is paying most of the cost of the projects.

The federal Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development released a report today highlighting how federal investments supporting projects in the oil & gas sector face significant risks in a transition to net‑zero emissions by 2050.

Carney is Making Greenwash Great Again. Serious question for the legal eagles: what (if anything?) is left of the anti-greenwashing law after they take this away? (text is from Annex 5 of yesterday's budget document).

I did not have this on my Budget Bingo card: Carney will weaken the anti-greenwashing legislation

The organization behind Agenda 2025 is going all-out on the scare-mongering for money. Their latest fundraising email is unhinged, but we can't just dismiss them because they wield real power in Trump's America.

Gandalf (who is wise) avoids even touching the ring, for fear that once put it on he would never be able to stop using its power to “put things to right.” Saruman (who is clever) argues that since the evil Sauron is too strong to defeat, they should use the Ring as a bargaining chip:

LOTR nerd alert: For Tolkien, the evil in Mordor can’t be defeated by force of arms or by magic, even if Sauron himself is overthrown. The real battle was inside the central characters as they struggle over what to do with the power offered by the Ring. Cue Galadriel:

Jamaica is being devastated by a hurricane supercharged by fossil fuel-driven climate change, yet next week the Carney govt will roll back climate action in the name of "competitiveness."
With per capita GHGs 6x those of Jamaica, we should be doing more, not less, to build a greener, safer future.

The U.S. has become a petro-thug and many in Canada want to join them in creating an island of fossil fuel dependency in a world that is going electric

Canada's Suncor at the very bottom of the ranking of major oil and gas companies' renewable energy holding with 1 tiny wind project, while the other oil sands giants CNRL and Cenovus have none.
But we're still supposed to take them seriously as good-faith actors when it comes to climate policy.

Reminder to #media for when Pathways Alliance carbon capture ends up on “project of national interest” list so it can bypass environmental laws: 10 First Nations & 2 Métis associations have asked federal govt a full Impact Assessment of this "massive and unprecedented project".

I'm on this guy's mailing list. It's not pretty. This isn't some American Andrew Coyne, he's a proud fascist. We should be fighting against everything he stands for and does, not asking him for advice.
