Entire regions of Asia have been inundated with catastrophic cyclones, record-breaking rain and flooding over the past few days.

Climate pollution from coal, oil and gas is driving more intense and disastrous extreme weather events around the world, and many are suffering.

"Australia is the world's third-largest fossil fuel exporter, and the Albanese Government has approved 32 new coal and gas projects since being elected in 2022. Presumably, shooting for number one."

Journalist Alan Kohler confronts Australia's addiction to fossil fuels.

Climate change is making our atmosphere hotter and wetter, leading to more intense rainfall and damaging storms.

Our hearts are with all those affected right now by the climate impacts unfolding in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia 🧡

When it comes to powering our homes, the latest numbers confirm renewables have the cheapest price tag by far. In fact, they are about half the cost of polluting gas and coal!

After years of campaigning, we finally have a new national environment law. Some important wins came through, but the law still fails the climate test.

Until emissions are fully accounted for and climate impacts properly weighed, our forests, our future, and our climate remain at risk.

BREAKING: The Australian Labor Party has struck a deal with the Greens Party to reform our main environment law.

The deal protects forests ✅ and fast-tracks responsible renewables ✅, however, it gives the same free pass for new coal, gas ❌.

Stay tuned for more!

These fire bans come as the Albanese Government is in the process of reforming our main environment law. The government must deliver a credible environment law that protects the places we love from climate harm, asap.

Climate Council CEO Amanda McKenzie and Climate Councillor Prof Tim Flannery appeared at a Senate inquiry into our main environment law reforms in Canberra last week, asking for climate impacts to be considered under the law.

Currently, they're not.

A pre-COP event will be hosted by a Pacific Island nation, and Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will lead negotiations in Antalya.

The Albanese Government had been locked in a long stand-off with Türkiye over hosting, with the official rules requiring global consensus on a host.

BREAKING NEWS: Türkiye will host COP31 - the world's biggest climate summit - next year.

But that’s not all...

While there's a lot of focus on politics and net zero in the news right now, let's not lose sight of why we're working so hard to cut pollution and switch to clean energy - we want to protect the people and places we love.

Walking away from net zero isn’t just a betrayal of future generations — it ignores what Australians want right now: strong, credible climate action.
November 14, 2025 at 12:25 AM
Walking away from net zero aligns with more than 3°C of global heating and would spell disaster for Australia’s climate, economy, and household bills.
November 13, 2025 at 11:10 PM
This climate disaster is yet another reminder of why we must urgently reduce climate pollution, and better prepare communities for worsening disasters in a supercharged climate.
November 13, 2025 at 6:52 AM
As the Federal Opposition drops its commitment to Australia’s net zero climate target, super typhoon Fung-Wong has wreaked havoc in the Philippines and is now hitting Taiwan as a tropical cyclone.
November 13, 2025 at 6:52 AM
The Liberal-National Coalition's plan to abandon Australia’s net zero target is a plan to let climate change rip.

It’s deadly negligence that would leave Australians facing more fires, floods and heatwaves, while hiking up power bills for Aussie families.
November 13, 2025 at 5:25 AM
The Coalition's climate sabotage will cost every Australian if enacted.

This is not what Australians want.

The Coalition has taken weak climate policies to the last two elections and lost. If they keep ignoring voters, and the science, they’re heading for net zero seats.
