👷 We heard from trade unions & worker representatives on the key barriers & opportunities to create pathways into good-quality renewable energy jobs.

Our VC @pippaheylings.bsky.social took their feedback to the debate on transitional support for oil & gas workers, calling for more concrete support.

💼 We brought business leaders into parliament to make the economic case for the UK's clean energy transition.

They welcomed the clean energy mission - calling it an economic inevitability which is backed by business - and urged govt to stick to its commitments.

🏛️ Our supporters pushed back against a false choice between economic growth and net zero.

“Net zero is the industrial opportunity of the 21st century. Doubling down on fossil fuels locks the UK into a declining sector.”

Our Vice Chair @pippaheylings.bsky.social called on the government to set out "a comprehensive and strategic plan for workers in the oil and gas industry".

This must include creating smooth transition pathways into clean energy to support the redeployment of workers.

Responding to the statement on Prax Lindsey Oil Refinery this week, Climate APPG supporters called for a long-term plan to support oil & gas workers.

Our Vice Chair @carladenyer.bsky.social said a worker-led transition is desperately needed to avoid a chaotic collapse in which workers pay the price

Yesterday we were delighted to host @michaelshanksmp.co.uk for a cross-party roundtable on the government's plans for the future of the North Sea.

As North Sea oil and gas reserves decline, it is vital that the transition to clean energy delivers for workers, communities and the climate.
June 12, 2025 at 9:11 AM
The North Sea’s future lies in clean energy and despite being a wind superpower, we import most of our turbine parts, while communities lose jobs.

Vice Chair @pippaheylings.bsky.social joins calls from unions and industry for £1.1 bn/year to build UK renewables manufacturing.
June 10, 2025 at 12:20 PM
Protecting our children's futures means we must end our reliance on oil + gas. But we need a plan for workers.

Our Vice Chair @carladenyer.bsky.social calls for an energy jobs strategy, which includes vital retraining opportunities.
June 10, 2025 at 12:20 PM
Climate change is a national security risk.

During DESNZ questions today, our Chair @lukemurphy.bsky.social highlights that opposing clean power infrastructure and grid upgrades is not just bad economics, it jeopardises our security.
