Local win for Southcoast Wind!

The Rhode Island Energy Facility Siting Board just unanimously approved the wind farm’s application for a key cable laying. After years of permitting, this is a major milestone for the project. Thank you to everyone who said #yestowind and our clean energy future!

Big news: the #RhodeIsland Energy Facilities Siting Board approved the 1200 MW SouthCoast Wind #offshorewind project.

SCW will be the 3rd OSW project to sell (some) power to RI utilities when the contract is finalized.

We're still a ways from steel in the water, but this was an important step. /1

Analyses suggest that offshore wind could lower overall energy costs for ratepayers by displacing more expensive fossil fuel power plants. New England's power grid also relies on offshore wind developments to meet rising energy demands.

Let’s be clear. This will raise costs. 95% of new power on the grid last year was clean energy. It essentially all came in below the grid price. Suppress it, and the grid must bring on even higher-priced units, raising costs for consumers. Trump-flation in action.
