Stupid things Starmer/Reeves have said or done. Day 524.

It's noticeable that the people who are now angriest with Keir Starmer's Labour government are those who voted for it. And they are right to be. This has been his primary achievement.
So where on earth does he think Labour voters will come from, next time round?
How many times do we need to point this out?
By appeasing the far right, you do not weaken it. You strengthen it.
While weakening your own position.
There's a vast amount of academic research showing this.
But Labour will not listen.

In the 1930s we didn’t have the ECHR and the far right still took power and there is zero connection between the ECHR and the rise of the right today. What did encourage the rise of the far right was appeasement which is what Starmer is proposing. This moron is the Paul von Hindenburg of our time.
Keir Starmer urges European leaders to reform human rights laws to tackle illegal migration
It comes as leaders meet in Strasbourg to discuss a potential shake-up of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Can someone please show this to Rachel Reeves
When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇

"There is a very low level of ecological literacy being displayed by ministers. Nothing I have seen or heard gives me comfort that Rachel Reeves understands the importance of nature to economic and social wellbeing. Nothing."

This is going to seem very random but I miss how the old bird app would have worked brilliantly for this:

I’m looking for someone who can help me find information about how, and in what - if any - capacity, the Salvation Army might have been involved in adoption processes in London in the 1910s.

This is one of the reasons why I gave up on the Guardian. They claim to be campaigning on climate change and then produce puff pieces like this. Golf courses are hardly an environmentally friendly land use.

Google Arts & Culture has an article about John Christie the serial killer illustrated with a picture of John Christie the founder of Glyndebourne. Isn't AI wonderful?

Just to let our US friends know that in the UK Trump is a slang term for a fart. Given how language develops if when farting we say that we are going to do a Donald and it catches on, in 100 years time that is what he will be remembered for.
