Anyone else wonder all the time what video game items/powerups taste like? Like I imagine this potion being a thick syrup of artificial cherry flavor and red 40.

Experiments for the next enemy type have begun. Figured out wall crawling navigation similar to the zoomers from Metroid. Got it to be pretty good at handling sharp convex corners but I still need to work on contingencies so it doesn't get stuck on concave corners too steep. #gamedev

Trying to fix the fact that I'm pure ass at shootemups. After sifting through dozens of games I think Thunder Force IV is my best teacher. Drop dead gorgeous game but also clicks with me the most with how it paces its obstacles in the early-game.

Digging inside a multi-thousand volt miniature particle accelerator was one of the scariest things I had to do, but my CRT is back from being dead for a year! All it needed was a replacement for one transistor that shorted. I think I can carry out electronics repairs with a lot more confidence now.

Since I'm working at a PC all the time I figured these vertical mice that's supposed to be easier on your wrists is a good investment. Did not dissapoint. Very comfortable + clicking feels like you're pulling the trigger on the joystick of a mech so FPS games feel way more immersive lol.

I can only guess they changed it because bright neon red and green are strange colors for the overalls but come on that's lame. These are cartoon characters, fuck realism. Even the Super Mario Bros. Super Show picked red and green overalls for the live action segments.

Call me crazy but I vastly prefer the blue shirt+red/green overalls palette for the Mario bros. Since red and green are their defining colors, it makes more sense for the overalls (the most prominent piece of clothing besides the hat) should be red/green while the shirt is blue for an accent color.

My dad needed to move more things out of storage so I now have an electronic drum kit in my custody. (I've already been taking a lot of his old music gear).
Playing drums is way harder than it looks, as it turns out. Takes a lot of work to get your feet to play ball with what your hands are doing.

So funny thing about my game's MC. I was flying by the seat of my pants when I made the sprites. There was no set-in-stone character design ahead of time. Since then I've went through several drafts trying to figure out what he should look like up close, and I'll probably go through many more. (1/2)

New move: This will act sort of like the instashield in Sonic 3 or Cuphead's parry mechanic. Will let you reflect projectiles or bounce off of enemies, or to change direction on a dime for evasion. May be important for combat since the rest of your moveset is so loose and momentum-driven. #gamedev

I was in the middle of working on a double jump/frontflip move when I realized that my animation control code has become too difficult to expand on/maintain.
Now I am tearing it all down and rebuilding it with some new knowledge.
I wish I found out about Godot's BlendSpace features sooner. #gamedev

No game updates ready to show for the moment so here's some filler: A friend needed me to fix his busted xbox so I went the whole 9 yards. Replaced caps, bodged broken traces, modchipped, upgraded HDD, dead dvd drive be damned.
I thought I was kinda bad at soldering but this was deceptively easy.
