Scanlon is forgiving the loan after having the city pull the plug on Braymiller’s, which could be viewed as a sign of fiscal responsibility after years of recklessness. He won’t have a single opponent anyways but I disagree with your take regardless

Garnell Whitfield spoke to his experience as an administrator handling multi-million dollar budgets. He was less concrete on what he *would* do and more trying to build the case for his bona fides as a leader

It’s not surprising to see Braymiller’s closing announced today in light of Scanlon’s comments. Between overhaul of staff & budget cuts it’s clear he wants to be seen as a reformer. He could also look like the executioner. Either way he’s in a tough position as acting mayor

It’s easy to beat up on the Dems (and I’ve done so plenty in the past). But I don’t hear any of the delusion in the Harris ‘24 post-mortems that I heard from Clinton ‘16. It’s a pretty honest recap

Jayapal & Markey introduced trans rights resolutions in 2023 in the House & Senate, respectively. Biden prohibited fed funded insurers from discriminating against trans ppl
More needs to be done (especially in the current climate) but most Dems I’ve seen haven’t backed away from these positions

For sure, and it’s valid criticism from that community. But I don’t think McBride’s opinion equals the Dem opinion at large. Most of the libs/whoever I have come across are pretty stridently in favor of trans rights

I think it’s important context that the person most prominently saying that is trans herself and is trying to make the GOP look insanely bigoted for discriminating against her. Most other Dems/libs I’ve seen have been pretty vocal defending trans people & rights
