“I am very still / I take in all the angles of the room”

DEATH IS NOT THE END // RE-ENTER THE LOOP, TRAVELLER
They’re beautiful tonight, even in the city.

I’m in a place right now where I think about this poem all the time. The wrath of it, and also the love that wrath demands.

I hope everyone gets everything they deserve.

My favorite deck I’ve built is Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist. Very customizable to your tastes and her ability is deceptively strong. Plus, y’know. Cat girl!

Great idea, thanks for putting up to help others when it matters most.

I don’t know exactly how to use this effect productively but the art sure as hell is fun!

This card is criminally underrated, especially in the current world where virtually every deck produces counters/tokens of some kind to generate advantage. It’s bizarre to me that it doesn’t see more play.

Despite being published in 1984, this poem speaks so powerfully to the dead-eyed, murderous nature of “AI“ as it relates to human creativity, lustiness, compassion, and art. We don’t have to hurt ourselves. Do not use AI, folks, it will break your brain first and then your spirit.

Going to just highlight this passage, because a lot of folks seem to have forgotten this little tidbit lately.

Truly a good wee lad

I grew up with the Ron Spears art and it was one of those rares I pulled at the time that was *so* appealing. These days I prefer the flavor text of the Chippy printing: “Wrath is no vice when inflicted upon the deserving.” Feels appropriate for our current moment.

It’s an oldie but a goodie. Welcome back, and glad you’re here!

Slapped this together and maybe it’s not quite right but the point stands

I would love it if we could go back, that whole block was fantastic. The art, the flavor. I remember at the time it went over like a bit of a lead balloon but I love it all the same. Like, this rk post art, c’mon now.

Sort of like Cleansing, which I wouldn’t consider MLD in casual commander. It’s more just a weird drain effect in white which I kind of love.

For me, it’s gotta be the Decimator of Provinces. What a delightfully weird pig!

Got this in my inbox this morning, I hadn’t read anything by Kuzmin before. Really lovely. It’s important to remember, now more than ever, that we’ve always been here. Always been loving and in love.

Still working on my list but, we do a little spell-slinging and some light extortion, as a treat #pendragonMTG

Unfortunately I think you’re right. Future Sight is a great example of how flavor text can do work as a narrative device, but I doubt we’ll see anything like it again. I keep coming back to Keen Sense’s re-telling of Crovax and Mirri’s stories via the color shift. To me, it’s Magic at it’s best.

Am a fan of this MDFC, getting a protection spell that can be a land is something I will pretty much always play.

Not sure if this little fellow counts as a fungus but it’s some of my favorite art I’ve ever seen on a Magic card and I think it’s close enough to count. Just wonderful.

Grixis wizard kindred girlies my beloved

Nobody sees it coming, and it’s worth the deck a lot for that alone.

I’m a big fan of Delirium as a way of dealing with voltron commanders or creatures being pumped up or given double strike for a turn.

I know it’s an old-timer thing but this will always have a very dear place in my heart
