This is just a reminder that there's bigger things in the world than a baseball team. I've been critical of Papa Pete at times, but you cannot deny he genuinely tried to make things better for the Padres and for the city in general. It's sad that some people cannot see that.

Jesus Christ. A pastor who actually seemed to embody the values of love and acceptance being driven to suicide by a damn blog outing his private life. People like him were the best part of church; so sad that they seem to be increasingly rare as time goes on

I'm a massive Soto fanboy, so take that into consideration with my current doomerism. I don't think I'll ever stop being a fan, but my passion is much more tempered. Haven't felt this way since the '98 fire sale

Just seemed an odd choice given they were pushing for the playoffs when he was hired. To his credit, they did do well in the COVID season. Felt like he would've been better suited for a young team with room to grow rather than one trying to contend imo

I hope they don't trade Soto but if they're going to be cutting payroll, I wouldn't be surprised. That would be a huge bummer. I think that would push me firmly into casual fan territory for awhile

Also, I dipped right before interpersonal shit started to pop up more on PT. And of course, Lord Elon has just made that site unbeatable

Although a lot of advanced stats showed they were likely better than their record, I'm looking at them as a mediocre team until proven otherwise. It sucks cuz there's fun guys on the team that I like a lot, but don't want to get my hopes up

I keep telling friends and colleagues that continuing to use that site is giving content, legitimacy, and ad dollars to a project to further destabilize civil society. I am aware I sound like a killjoy and there are still things people find useful there. But I stand by this position.

Looks like it's mostly some bug fixes and weapons rebalancing. I finished my playthrough last week, but I'm sure I'm gonna dive back in after I finish Spider-Man 2

I took a step back, even though we have season tickets. Basically just did my best to stop watching/listening, as it was getting to me more than it should. Deleting my Twitter definitely helped out quite a bit.
So likely going to follow the same pattern next season.
