Deep joy.
Racism may be an underlying problem in the UK, but the bigger problem is UK newsmedia normalising it, along with the usual lies and deceptions.

Fix the newsmedia's licence to lie and you fix most public misconceptions.

They want to, because if they can't believe their trusted newspapers, then they can't believe anything.

Brexit is the perfect filter to see this, as in spite of all published evidence that Brexit is a disaster, most UK newsmedia still portray it as a missed opportunity, waiting for the right HMG.

Me pointing out the many lies and deceptions just serves to make me sound like an off-message nutter. Nigel is honest! Tommy is a racist, but we are being overrun. Starmer is destroying the country. Etc.

Right-wing newsmedia is prevalent and highly effective at hammering their messages through.

I know quite a ReformUK types and they really do believe what they read. Pick up almost any newspaper or watch most newsmedia and the message is consistent and largely clear: we're being overun by hordes of illegal immigrants, many of whom are opportunist scroungers and/or sex offenders.

Couldn't think of a better time to break such a promise. What a rollercoaster treat. Down down down then -whoosh!- sky-high.

Never forget Hunter Biden's laptop!!!

Just knowing the NHS is there for you can be a boon. Very welcome when we normally hear only bad news about it.

They knew what they weren't doing.
November 20, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Well. We already know that Trump sees the US Capitol Police and House Sergeant at Arms as enemies, having set MAGA on them at J6. So, this has come full circle.
November 20, 2025 at 7:05 PM
How very tasteful.
November 20, 2025 at 7:03 PM
Hang about, wasn't Trump the "candidate of peace"?

Vance touts Trump as "candidate of peace," downplays John Kelly's warning
Vance characterized four-star gens. Mark Milley and John Kelly as "disgruntled former employees."

Inciting violence against opponents is a price Trump is willing to pay, in order to stay in power.

And it's not yet even a year gone by. Imagine what he'll do during the mid-terms.

Many more people are now aware of how Poles did so much to keep the RAF flying through the Battle of Britain and beyond. And they're grateful.

Don't forget that, when you read about how others insist that foreigners are an unwelcome burden.

He's making a joke about the absurd poppy-worship sometimes seen in the UK.
November 20, 2025 at 6:45 PM
By design.

Remember - Boris wanted an acquired-immunity army of British businessmen doing deals around the world while Europe is in lockdown. His words.

Acquired immunity required everyone to get infected.

Right wing governments routinely rack up more debt and somehow pin the blame on left(er) governments - always aided by their chums in newsmedia. The electorate swallow the lies

Same playbook everywhere: Finland, Germany, France, UK and the US, where DJT doubled debt and blamed Dems - twice!

The right thing to do here is quote this @ Donald Trump on Truth Social, saying "Elon says he's fitter than you, smarter than you and a better father than you. He created an AI to say this is true. Does this mean you are a loser?"
November 20, 2025 at 5:33 PM
It's an opportunity, really.
November 20, 2025 at 4:39 PM
If it doesn't make it to court, Trump will announce "this guy is as guilty as hell" then scream at someone until it all starts again.

You could name this "The Darwin Recipe Book"

If Kemi can now deliver reasonably effective attack lines, HMG is in a terrible place.

Putting it differently, HMG messaging is now so bad that Kemi Badinoch doesn't sound worse.

And stinking rubbish piling up due to binman strikes.

But on the other hand, being openly racist was fine. No wonder The Torygraph is fond of the 70s.
November 19, 2025 at 11:11 AM
Oh what an interesting answer.

I had wondered why so much money was being thrown at AI, given the (to me) apparently limited options for ROI. They felt they had no choice?!

Reminds me of the arms race, which only froze due to cooperation and agreements.

Hang about - you're not using cloud heating are you? The cloud heating servers should be up by now, so try restarting your router.

Other helpful advice:
Try shouting at it.
Typing lots of complaints will warm your hands.
