Finally, it was time for the local organisers to take the stage and close #DARIAH2025 with a deserved applause for everyone involved in the organisation. As usual, everyone was looking forward to the next Annual Event, but for now, we only know that #DARIAH2026 will be organised in Italy… Ciao! 🇮🇹

For the panel "How DARIAH and other Research Infrastructures are part of the story of European Construction" the board of directors @dariaheu.bsky.social (Sally Chambers, Agiatis Benardou & Susan Schreibman) discussed how DARIAH stimulates scientific collaboration between the different RIs!

The 3rd (and last) day at #DARIAH2025 had still some things in store for us: 2 interesting sessions, one on transforming digital methods, another on databases from past to future. This was followed by the final plenary, chaired by Ed Gray (Officer for National Coordination @dariaheu.bsky.social)!
June 20, 2025 at 6:11 PM
At the plenary, all funded WGs present their outcomes, including DH Course Registry (with our national moderator @fosco13.bsky.social) & Community Engagement WG who published a White Paper on 'Emerging job profiles for DH Graduates: Bridging gaps between Industry & Education’ doi.org/10.5281/zeno...

Lots of interesting research data platforms and tools were presented in the ‘Let’s Talk Infrastructure' session this afternoon. Main takeaways are to not reinvent the wheel and to find communities (such as ECHOES for CH research) that serve as gateway to collaborate on the European level! #RDM

This morning, Vicky Garnett (training officer @dariaheu.bsky.social) introduced us to the new DARIAH-Campus Content Management System, built as a GitHub wrapper. This should allow anyone with DH training resources to add these to the platform (and automatically to the SSH Open Marketplace)

The 2nd day of the @dariaheu.bsky.social Annual Event started with a poster session. Unfortunately, our national coordinator Julie Birkholz couldn’t present in person, but there still was a lot of attention for both project posters (GhentCDH & @clsinfra.bsky.social)!

Finally, the keynote delivered by the renowned artist, professor, entrepreneur and former UN diplomat Gabo Arora focussed on how new
immersive technologies (VR, XR, …) can be used by humanists as active creator to change the future and do good, rather than act as passive consumers! #VirtualReality

One of the other interesting sessions (on 'Interdisciplinary Approaches') featured work from one of our third party partners, @kbrbe.bsky.social! In their Coin Cabinet, they have digitised their collection of numismatic objects identified as counterfeits with specialised imaging software (as #LOD)!
June 18, 2025 at 4:55 PM
In an interesting panel session this morning (including our former colleague Sally Chambers) the sustainability of Research Infrastructures was discussed with the past and the future of DARIAH-DE as case study for Germany. 1 of the takeaways was - evidently - that our strength lies in collaboration!

This week, we’re in Göttingen for #DARIAH2025! After some intensive Working Group meetings yesterday, today we experienced the conference theme ('The Past') in all its forms: from using historical data for digital storytelling over 3D imaging to other interdisciplinary approaches! #DigitalHumanities

June 6, 2025 at 4:43 PM
In the demo session, you could spot some of our researchers like @leahermenault.bsky.social, demonstrating the Belgian Historical Gazetteer, and Jonas Doumen (on behalf of Vincent Prins & Vincent Vandeghinste) showing another CLARIAH-VL SIC, Textlens: an online dashboard for digital text analysis 🧐

Day 2 of #DHBenelux2025 started with another inspiring keynote (by @lisejaillant.bsky.social) about how using AI to unlock archives can revolutionise our access to historical documents (especially recent digital archives such as from the UK government), obviously with the necessary caveats!
June 5, 2025 at 9:15 AM
At the poster session, Els Lefever, Cynthia Van Hee (@uantwerpen.be) & @sytzevh.bsky.social presented their research on the LeTTuce PoS-Tagger (a CLARIAH-VL SIC), an innovation in multilingual NLP, and on publishing and linking Belgian person observations using citizen science…

Colleagues from @uantwerpen.be Christophe De Coster & @leahermenault.bsky.social presented their work (i.c.w. Iason Jongepier) on analysing the (un)changing nature of toponyms, using the CLARIAH-VL+ developed service infrastructure component BHG (Belgian Historical Gazetteer) #toponymy #gazetteer

We already enjoyed the keynote by @barbaramcgilli.bsky.social on computational (and human) approaches to detecting semantic change over time. Looking forward to COALA (her ERC project on Latin lexical semantics), enabling how word meanings have evolved over 2000 years!

We’re wrapping up the day with a poster session, in which our new CLARIAH-VL+ infrastructure project phase is presented (including links to CLARIN-ERIC and @dariaheu.bsky.social & many third parties), funded by the FWO!
