galaxies upon galaxies. somewhere out there, there is a civilization that has figured out how to live peacefully; a civilization that is on the precipice of ruin; a civilization that has unlocked almost all the secrets to the universe; a civilization that is just beginning. at least that's what i think of when i see images like this--which somehow both calm and stress me the fuck out.

Do you see her, Lady Liberty (NGC 3576)? With an outstretched arm she is holding the torch, and if you look closely, with a little imagination, you might think she is wearing a crown (but that’s just gas and dust being zapped by high-energy light from massive stars)
