Peter Riley is a quietly defining force in British poetry. It amazes me that he lives among us in Hebden Bridge. Peter now lives with Parkinson's and I feel so privileged he has asked me to read his work alongside him on November 4th at the Dusty Miller in Mytholmroyd. It’ll be a wonderful night.

Here's a nice thing! I created this set of bog-themed resources and workshop plans for the Poetry Society. They are suitable for kids and adults, and you can download them for free.

We're dancing to celebrate the genius of Kate Bush and Emily Brontë, to raise money for Women's Aid, and to protect our moors, their curlews and bogs and cultural legacy from the proposal to build England's biggest onshore windfarm on their protected peat.

In 2023, there were over a million recorded incidents of violence against women in England and Wales alone.
I can't wait to see these figures plummet as transwomen are denied entry into women’s toilets, hospital wards and sports. Thank God JK Rowling and her cronies defended women so effectively.

Tonight's "Nothing More Beautiful" online poetry workshop was a thing of wonder. Love and tears and fruit and loads of money raised for the Good Law Project's fight for trans rights.

Beautiful broken things.
Found whilst watering the saplings in our restored woods.

This is a tardigrade, otherwise known as a water bear, or a moss pig, and it’s one of the bog bodies we’ll be writing about this Friday 21st from 7-9pm in Bog Bodies: A Creative Encounter. All proceeds towards our Book of Bogs Give Peat a Chance Crowdfunder
