They have luggage tags with your hospital ID sticker on them for attaching to any bags or mobility devices you bring in with you. Also most hospitals will let you keep your phone & glasses until the last minute these days & put them with your stuff after you through.

Fifth was Kylie Scott's The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck. Romance is my THING these days and this was generally a good book, though the back end went off the rails a bit and I possibly have a lot of nitpicky opinions that won't fit here (KYLO REN APOLOGIST). But it was a 3.5/5 experience overall.

My fourth book was Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home, which I had already seen the musical adaptation of but which still blew me away. What a book! Absolutely phenomenal!

Whoops! Fell behind on updating these here! My third book was Juliet Jacques’ Variations, which I WANTED to love but I just didn’t vibe with on a technical level. Very cool idea though!

My second book was Chelsea Watego’s Another Day in the Colony, which was FANTASTIC. This book gave me a lot to think about and I’m really grateful to have had the opportunity to read it.

My first book was Anne McCaffrey’s The Ship Who Sang, which sadly didn’t do it for me, despite my having been a hardcore McCaffrey fan in my early teen years. I found her writing style hard to adjust (re-adjust?) to, I disliked the characters and the disability narratives were awkward at best.

So far I’ve read two books (the rare benefit of starting the year horribly ill is that you can get a head start on your reading!) the first from 20th Century Speculative Fiction and the second from Social Justice & Activism

Thank you! I’m in hospital right now, but I’ve just found out I’m probably getting discharged on Friday, which is a nice birthday present. And my wife is allowed to take me out to dinner tonight.

I learned a whole lot, met some fascinating people, and like to think I contributed some good stuff. Hard to go back to endless medical appointments today but alas, the work of a disabled person is never done!
