It’s going to be a great week.

In an “illustrated texts” class, students made fanzines about graphic novels, forming new analyses and narratives by cutting/collaging excerpts from what they read, and I heard the coolest lightbulb moment: “Wait, are we restorying?” @amystorn.bsky.social and @ebonyteach.bsky.social ✨

Yesterday I got to talk zines, writing with AI, and creating brave spaces for youth writing and artwork at the Penn Ethnography Forum with @amystorn.bsky.social @rabani.bsky.social, and the rest of our fab intergenerational research team. Still smiling!

This week, we organized another strictly non-academic writing group, in which we wrote poems, letters, stories, journal entries - would highly recommend. We had friends there across disciplines and interests, in and out of academia - we played music and just wrote. Third spaces are so good.

I wrote a poem about my grandfather, Anthony S. Abbott, and it was published in t’art magazine. It’s a beautiful publication for queer art/artists!
