First my translation software wouldn't open and then the brand new prime minister resigned, so I'm not getting a lot done this morning.

I’d already left for France by 1998 so only remember those acts that achieved some kind of success across the Channel.

What utter dickheads we are…

Rayner fought for workers: sick pay, maternity rights, protection from unfair dismissal

Farage and his MPs voted it down

Rayner gets binned over £40k in stamp duty

Farage dodges £44k, shrugs & strolls on

The mega wealthy win again.

It might not look like it, but translation is often a safety-critical industry. Problem is, you can't tell where the danger is unless you're an expert, and AI is stripping expertise out at a rate of knots.
Since 2023, translators and interpreters have seen work dry up, rates plummet and their jobs reduced to editing AI-generated output. Some are leaving the field, others are considering bankruptcy. All despite any major upgrade in translation quality.

This is how AI is killing translation work:
AI Killed My Job: Translators
Few industries have been hit by AI as hard as translation. Rates are plummeting. Work is drying up. Translators are considering abandoning the field, or bankruptcy. These are their stories.

I'm preparing to publish the next installment of AI Killed My Job. This time, the focus will be on translators.

If you or someone you know has had a translation job (including translator, interpreter, game localizer, etc) impacted by AI, and you'd like to share, please do: AIkilledmyjob@pm.me
AI is being used to justify firing workers at major tech companies, leaving those that remain to pick up the pieces.

AI code is being shoveled into crucial Google products, replacing trainers at TikTok, and worse.

This, in tech workers' own words, is how AI is killing jobs in Silicon Valley.
