Pretty much the only solution is a Brompton or similar, at least for commuting (also worth noting that if you get another brand of folding bike ‘cause Bromptons are too expensive, you’ll suffer a year of Brompton envy and then end up buying one anyway!)

I don’t know whether this might be useful, but you could have a chat with Andy Pitts at ImaChek to see if he can help at all. I know Andy through a cycling club, but have talked to him quite a bit about what he’s trying to do, and my group have trialled the software.
