I mean, it’s the piss, too. And the fact that you’ve been handling your penis. And the pathogens. It’s all three ps, at the end of the day. No one wants one of the ps, let alone all three.

Just wash your damn hands, Gavin.

(I find this subreddit so funny - most of the time it’s fine, but sometimes they get stuck on odd stuff. Like, no one’s saying we have to sit elbows off the table in a tux, but sharing a meal at the end of the day as a family is a… good thing? Or am I a controlling monster now? 😳)

They call it Clippy MK II where my husband works (Airbus aerospace software engineer - they’re not allowed to use LLMs there, unsurprisingly, but that doesn’t stop the ‘vibe coders’ from thinking they can do the job… he sits on interview panels - so many lying CVs, so many wasted interview hours)
November 10, 2025 at 7:26 AM
The thing with LLMs is, once you pull back the curtain, the tech… isn’t that great? They have their place in dealing with large data sets in research (eg), but don’t let them run your company (they have no intelligence!), and for the love of Cthulhu, don’t let them replace actual human interaction😬😳

This, sadly, doesn’t surprise me one little bit. I know schools are jumping on this bandwagon despite teachers AND kids hating it - nonsensical homework is a particular bugbear in our house at the moment. There are many reasons I’m glad I got out of teaching, and this has been added to that list.

I use Libre Office and I’ve never had AI shoved in my face - viva Libre Office! It’s basic but it gets the job done!

(Note: it might have AI features that I don’t know about, but it doesn’t pester me with them - I open a new document and type, just like Cthulhu intended)
November 10, 2025 at 7:04 AM
I know, and it’s awful… we can only do what we can do, and be loud about it. I complained to my kids’ school about their use of it, making the point that I’m also a teacher and I don’t use it, and I used to work there so my disappointment is twofold, but they’re adamant it’s ’to reduce workload’ 🤮

I’ve yet to come across an engineer who will use ‘ai’ (they call it Clippy MK II) and are having a hell of a time recruiting because every ‘vibe coder’ out there thinks their chat gpt hallucinated tripe is as good as actual knowledge -
November 9, 2025 at 11:54 AM
The thing is, that it is embedded into so much stuff is something we should be kicking off about, like the use of excess plastic in everything. I boycott what can, but perfect is the enemy of good. I’ve never actively used an LLM and I never will. I refuse to normalise their use.
November 9, 2025 at 11:49 AM
When your husband is a software engineer and all your systems have been set up by him (Linux run, don’t use Microsoft anything, DuckDuckGo with AI turned off, shut off Gemini on my phone and I have never used Siri on my iPad ever) I’ve done as much as I can as one person to avoid it all
November 9, 2025 at 11:47 AM
I'm not allowed either (& I've told my agent I don't want AI used at any point, inc covers etc)

My husband's an aerospace software engineer and he'd get into a lot of Trouble if he went anywhere near an LLM with his project (he's the reason why I know 'ai' isn't 'ai' and is really 'Clippy Mk II')
November 9, 2025 at 10:31 AM
People say 'why don't you use it to help with your work load' and, uh, just say you don't understand writing? Because what are you suggesting I do? Plug my ideas into the Plagiarism machine? You know, the creative, fun bit? The bit writers love? The bit we wish we could do all the time?? That bit??
November 9, 2025 at 10:26 AM
Nooooo, you're not a dinosaur! I'm so anti I've turned my teen kids against it (their dad is a software engineer and he despises it too) and they're also spreading the anti-ai gospel among their friends - ironically teens hate it cos of school and how it's used there, so there is hope.
November 9, 2025 at 10:22 AM
To be fair, when you put it like this, I can see exactly why the billionaires want us using it... But I am deeply, deeply cynical 😅
November 9, 2025 at 10:18 AM
It would be mentally safer to do that, and better for the environment.
November 9, 2025 at 10:16 AM
What, you mean you don't want to be told incorrect information safe in the knowledge that your small library of novels has been plundered by billionaires so grifters can use them to create nonsense that'll use up a small country's worth of water to tell kids to hurt themselves? I'm surprised!

😐
November 9, 2025 at 10:15 AM
I'm gonna make it with my hands and with my brain, old skool - who cares if it's a bit wonky? Wonky is good! At least wonky won't go psycho on me and tell me to do something unforgivable while using enough water to supply a small country using all the bloody work it's stolen from me & my pals... 😐
November 9, 2025 at 10:12 AM
Never used any of those either! I've turned them all off. My phone threw a fit when I turned Gemini off. Why do you want to do this? it lamented. Because I do not fuck with AI slop, I said back. Nope nope nope.
November 9, 2025 at 10:09 AM
EXACTLY!!! It's not even AI! Actual engineers call it Clippy Mk II, because that's what it is - we're nowhere near actual artificial intelligence, no matter what the techbros tell us. It's all smoke and mirrors, and it's crippling our environment.
November 9, 2025 at 10:08 AM
I do, too. Then they get confronted by an actual engineer and that's even funnier.

The deadpan 'that's not how that works. At all.' will never get old.
November 9, 2025 at 10:05 AM
That's exactly how I felt. Disinterest at first, then my husband (software engineer) explained how stupid it was from a technical standpoint (they call it Clippy Mk II), then the environmental impact became clear... why would anyone use it, except for sheer unadulterated laziness and greed?

Oh...
November 9, 2025 at 9:58 AM
This is the way. Now to convince everyone else...
November 9, 2025 at 9:56 AM
Out stubborn laziness has a point this time! Taureans say NO to AI!

(And YES to lovely handmade sensual things and cake)
