Inspired 15th century panel paintings, in particular that by Josse Lieferinxe, 1493-1505, with the archangels foot in the Devil's mouth/beak!
My St Michael, in the same pose, is a young woman with fancy-dress wings, taking a selfie on her golden phone.

This devil is based on various medieval depictions, but the rainbow colours come from Hans Memling's devil from the Earthly Vanity and Divine Salvation triptych.

Posting old favourites until this becomes the favoured social space!

Installation views of my 2023 Edinburgh show, "when the rocks were soft". All the works referenced Scottish lore and stories.
