Selkie, 2023 is on show as part of 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘦𝘱 at Aberdeen Art Gallery from 17th May - 26th October 2025

Inspired 15th century panel paintings, in particular that by Josse Lieferinxe, 1493-1505, with the archangels foot in the Devil's mouth/beak!
My St Michael, in the same pose, is a young woman with fancy-dress wings, taking a selfie on her golden phone.

This devil is based on various medieval depictions, but the rainbow colours come from Hans Memling's devil from the Earthly Vanity and Divine Salvation triptych.
