Incredibly grateful to have studied for, and achieved, a PhD… but the ‘career’ job hunt really is demoralising 😥

After 2 years… I’ve finally got the news I’ve been waiting for, my ankle is no longer broken and the tendons, although heavily scarred, are healed!! I need more physio and OT, but it’s amazing news, especially as I’m finally starting to feeling like myself again ☺️

Currently 3/5 through a really lovely temping contract atm. I went into it thinking it’d be standard admin and it’s ended up being an amazing insight into a section of the uni I knew little of before. Not only is it a warm & welcoming team, but I’ve been able to collaborate a little on a project ❤️

Power cut in my mums town and surrounding areas, have ended up with half the local population in Ashington Asda buying candles. Never thought I’d be annoyed we don’t live in Ashington anymore, if only for the luxury of electricity 😂

One thing that’s quite nice about job rejections now is that at least they now start ‘Dear Dr McGee’…

I have spent many lunch breaks over the past 12 years, sitting on the floor against this Henry Moore sculpture chatting with my lovely BA, MA and PhD friends - it felt only fitting to take a picture with it today to say goodbye to an old friend
