I’m a senior leader/history teacher in the East Midlands and part-time EdD student. Currently on mat leave so probably posting from soft play.

Can we bridge the gap between research and practice?

I blog here: www.researchtoclassroom.com

How much does your school charge parents for photos?

Is £11 for one 5x7 picture standard?

What’s on your ‘ta da’ list for this week?!

I have:

1. Been working on a book chapter
2. Done some more data analysis
3. Cleared the kitchen table (no joke, it was horrific!)
4. Presented to SLT on the work we’ve done so far this year for careers
Feeling a little tired and Novembery (yes that’s a word), please share your ‘ta da’ list with me!

Like a to-do list, but the opposite! Sharing what you’ve achieved this week!

I have:
1. Sent off an article
2. Prioritised a poorly baba
3. Analysed EdD data
4. Worked with our vocational kids

Internet, please help. I am looking for a *very* specific notebook.

It needs to be:
1. A4
2. Numbered pages
3. Soft cover so it will sit nicely in an leather cover

Can’t find it through google but think I’ve built up enough similarly minded stationary nerds on here that you may be able to help!

Coffee is brewing.

I love Fridays!

Can’t make nice bread without sharing it with the internet, right?

Why is it that the jobs you think will take forever and you don’t do, but obsess over… take like 5 minutes?

Poorly baby, but good book and hopefully a productive, long nap time 🤞

Committing to going to the gym regularly now I’m back at work. Physical recovery and falling in love with exercise has been a massive part of my maternity leave to want to keep the momentum going.

Workout done, hair oil in and ready for a turmeric tea at home!

Don’t want to brag, but I’m a millennial and I just made a big purchase on my phone, not my laptop.

Absolutely love Cosmic yoga as a way to exercise with my little ones 🙂

It’s a haunted house, but instead of ghosts it’s full of EdD/PhD students nightmares…

Going to have a long break from blogging for a number of exciting reasons and generally being very busy!

My website subscription ends in Jan so going to move my favourite pieces over the Substack for anyone who might be interested.

It’s a fun hobby and has connected me to some great friends.

Help please!

My outlook account keeps either not sending emails, sending them weeks later or leaving them sat in my outbox that I have to keep checking.

Means I've not sent some really important emails lately and not sure why it's happening!

Batch cooking during half term is a staple in this house. We make as many portions as possible and freeze them for easier evening.

This term, I’ve got for:

1. Chicken and lentil curry
2. Lasagna
3. Chilli con carne
4. Beef stroganoff

Is there a possibility that issues around attendance will lead to schools rethinking curriculum and behaviour policies?

I don’t have an answer and haven’t formed an opinion yet - scout not solider.

Heading to the IPDA conference this morning. The theme of the conference is reclaiming professional development. I’ll be thinking about:

How do teachers view their engagement with the ‘big’ ideas in education?

How can schools/MATs provide opportunities for teachers to think about their teaching?
