Day 23 crane home to roost. Day 24’s crane has a busy night ahead still but will hopefully put in an appearance some time tomorrow.

Origami advent calendar crane day 23: we’re on location today in the office. Another photo to follow once I’ve played mousetrap/buckaroo with the other 22 and the tree. This is a variation on Tomoko Fuse’s fan crane from an origami maniacs tutorial.

Origami crane advent tree day 22: A simple one today. This is Crane Diamond by Hiromi Takagi

Origami advent crane day 19:this is the Celebration Crane but I think I’m going to call it ‘Beautiful Plumage’
December 20, 2024 at 12:05 PM
Origami crane advent calendar days 17-18: this is an example of Renzuru or linked cranes. Two connected cranes have been folded from the same sheet of paper. A teeny tiny crane is hitching a lift on the normal size crane’s tail. It was hard to get a clear photo so I hope you can see it ok.

Origami crane tree day 16: Sleeping crane. I am so tired so this seemed a fitting design. I love the way the head is tucked into the body. Hopefully you can see that in the photo. I didn’t want to risk waking him up so I didn’t move him.

Origami crane advent calendar day 15: I didn’t think I’d have time to fold anything for today because I’ve been attending an online workshop but lo and behold, look what I folded in the last session. Model by Cekouat Leon. Ok it doesn’t really fit in with the other designs but it does have a crane.

Origami Crane Advent Tree day 14: A crane box from Grandma’s Origami Channel, so clever but so simple. A 15 cm square makes a box just big enough for something the size of one chocolate so you probably want bigger paper. If you can make a crane you can easily make this. youtu.be/OXSZN2pZnow?...

Origami Crane Advent Tree day 13. Meet Fuku-tsuru or fluffy crane, designed by Masahiko Ogawa. It’s a good luck crane which is said to invite and carry happiness. It’s very sweet and made me happy to fold it.

Oh dear catching up on day 12 finally, too tired to post yesterday and too busy all day. This beauty is the sunrise crane by Hiromi Kojima. Tutorial by origami maniacs on YouTube day 13 will hopefully be arriving this side of midnight

Origami Crane Advent Tree day 11: crane note card or “Very large crane flying over a very tiny forest”
December 12, 2024 at 12:08 AM
Day 10: I fell asleep before I posted this last night. Origami crane card holder. A really simple design that would be lovely for place cards at a wedding, although probably not in candy cane paper.
December 11, 2024 at 10:51 AM
Origami crane advent tree day 9: Except this one refused to sit on the tree. Even so I think this is my favourite so far. It’s Crane Tower by Kawate Ayako
December 10, 2024 at 12:35 AM
Origami crane advent calendar tree day 8: very late because cranes kept attempting to fly away (they may not be back in the same place as yesterday but I’m past caring.) Victory crane no 3, see tutorial here youtu.be/iXWFA5TxmcE?...

Origami crane advent calendar tree day 7: Noshi Zutsumi. Noshis are traditional folded decoration for gifts. These days they are usually bought ready made. This model also works as a letter- fold for A4 paper. Bonus photo of the tree after week 1
December 7, 2024 at 11:20 PM
O.C.A.T day 6: origami pleated crane. I can’t find any designer credited so will call it ‘traditional.’
December 7, 2024 at 12:05 AM
Day 5 origami crane advent calendar tree: This is Victory Crane no 2. There’s just a few steps on from no 1 (see day 2) but the extra folds make a sturdy little model that stands upright when it’s not trying to balance on a branch that is.
December 5, 2024 at 10:05 PM
Origami crane advent tree day 4: This is flowery crane by Eishi Nakamura. A very 3d model., it really needs larger paper than the 15 cm pack I’m using as its very thick round the head and neck but it sits very nicely on the branch.
December 4, 2024 at 11:22 PM
Oops a bit late with day 3’s advent crane tree photo. I was out this evening. It’s the New Year Crane by Toshio Chino (no idea why it’s called that, it’s also known as sitting crane which makes a lot more sense. A very useful model for cards as it’s nice and flat. Origami Maniacs has a tutorial.
December 4, 2024 at 12:09 AM
Origami crane advent tree day 2: Victory Crane no 1 by Hiromi Takagi. I love this trio. No 2 and no 3 will feature soon. In the meantime you can find them on @origamimaniacs YouTube channel. #origamicrane

Advent Origami Crane Tree: Each day will feature a variation on the traditional crane providing that I a) find instructions for 24 different models and b) I get round to it. Anyway here is day 1, the traditional crane.
