I see Google's getting a bit jazzy with its tooltips this morning.

Perplexity told me to eat these.

Nice try, AI bot.

(Note: I am not planning to eat them and wouldn't even if someone said it was fine. So please don't @ me 😀)

Lush closed its UK stores, factories, and online operations today.

I didn’t realise until I saw the news on TikTok. Good on them for taking a stand.

Shops in ROI are closed tomorrow.

Has the UK technology editor at the Guardian never come across custom GPTs? This is the kind of nonsense that sparks AI psychosis. Why is the Guardian publishing this.

Can a calculator suffer if you calculate a really big number?

A great example of low-effort content here, directly from the Google team.

Another example of AI chat bots and terrible UX, this time from #Barclays.

No other options to contact Barclaycard except via phone, and the lines are closed.

This is an obstacle, not an assistant.

If your AI chat bot is a front end for your content and nothing more, get rid of it, because I guarantee customers hate it.

This one from Haven:

- can’t connect me to a real person out of hours
- can’t get my last surname right, because it doesn’t accept two words

It’s like Black Friday for AI hot takes.

Jokes aside: these are all good and worth reading.

Tried again with MCP. I've noticed LLMs can't define Model Context Protocol without search (it's too new, even for Gemini).

This time, I got a good answer, but related searches are entirely in Spanish.

Using Perplexity Pro to learn about MUVERA (Google).

The answer is great, but related questions have a mix of topics about MUVERA and MuReva (a company). Some don't make sense at all. Search vs training data clash?

(There's also a drug called Muvera, but that doesn't get a mention!)

Just got a weird bare URL in an AI Overview.

Just sent my 6 year old a pic of the cat and she asked me if it’s AI. Kids are smart (it wasn’t AI though!)

Our kitten caught his first bird and brought it in the house to play with. So that’s the kitten honeymoon officially over. (Birdy seems fine and is at the vets for a check-up.)

It helps when the team has an extra finger, too

More gibberish. Deleted Facebook again for the 64th time this year.

Meta AI not getting the joke. Again.

Is your laptop really yours until your kitten:

1. Walks across the keys to add sjdhfienassssss to the article you’re working on
2. Carefully positions himself on top of it and falls sleep
3. Tries to bite the corners of the screen

(Yes, this is how he falls asleep every night)

Never tried harness training a kitten before. (It’s not going well.)

Meta AI in the Facebook app is one of the least helpful implementations of an LLM.

This appeared under David Mitchell’s rant about the phrase ‘I could care less’.

Just recreated my Myspace page from 2006 using Cursor and Claude. I'll write up a tutorial on this if I have time. You can see it at www.printed-circuit.net
