That's a great visual guide to some popular fermented foods!
They're not just tasty, but also fantastic for gut health.

This semester taught me how vital nutrition is for health. As a future health professional, I plan to use this knowledge to educate and support patients with evidence based nutrition guidance, helping them set realistic goals that fit their lives. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

The foods that I'm looking forward to eat the most on Thanksgiving are mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole. For the sweet potato casserole my family add 1 tsp of vanilla syrup. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I chose this PHIT America article because it provides evidence-based information linking nutrition to kids physical fitness and it's perfect for parents and caregivers. Beyond being factual, it’s easy to read and structured to engage a general audience. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I relate to this so much because I feel like we are in an era where body type trends change like fashion and prioritizing your health over your weight is the real win. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Tom Carroll’s experience challenges the idea that you must avoid all fast food to lose weight. His consistency of eating the same satisfying meal daily and cutting out alcohol, mattered more than following a flawless diet. It’s a good reminder to be empathetic . #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

While this is a good, I read from a scholarly article, couple weeks before, that too much vitamin D can have some negative side effects. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I learned this week that fat-shaming doesn't help people get healthier, it makes things worse. What stuck with me from James Corden’s take is how real the damage from fat-shaming is, it just adds guilt and stress. I want to be more mindful of how I talk about weight instead of judgement. #beh353

I have a really poor time management, so my main strategy for food shifts entirely to speed and availability. My fridge may contain fresh products but it often goes untouched because I lack time to plan, prepare and cook healthy foods. I either door dash or go out to eat at restaurants. #beh353

I chose this article because I leaned that our bodies need vitamins in specific amounts daily. Most people can meet their needs through a varied diet full of fruits, veggies, whole grains and lean proteins. But always check with your doctor! #beh353

I found "health diet" by the World Health Organization. It focuses on encouraging simple, and sustainable changes to an overall eating pattern rather than promoting a restrictive diet. The WHO focused on promoting healthier and safer life and scientifically sound articles @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Before going to bed I like to have light food in my stomach and I've always find bananas a little heavy to have in the stomach before bed and kiwi are a bit acidic, so I wondered how it is good to eat them before bed time.

A fad diet that I found interesting is the Atkins diet ( eating less carbs and eating more protein and healthy fats). Since it's severely limits or eliminates whole grains, fruits, and many vegetables, what specific food sources is recommend to prevent the health side effect during initial phase.

I often have white bread and eggs for breakfast. It's not a lot nutrients so from I would swap the white bread for a whole wheat bread instead and add maybe arugula salad and avacado. Therefore my breakys will have fiber, healthy fats and vitamins.

I try to recall what I ate last Monday and it was very easy for me to recall because I already keep track of what I eat on my note app, so it was very accurate. What is surprising to me in this list was I consumed a lot of carbs but a small quantity of micronutrient. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This resonate with me because I agree with the post and it offers a non judgmental perspective. It recognizes that stress eating isn't a failure but a behavior that can be managed with healthier alternatives.
Stress eating can go unnoticed by friends and family as well as ourselves at times. Instead of shaming stress eaters I love this way of guiding them away from the chips and ice cream and towards nuts, and easy fruit! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Stress eating? You’re not alone. But there are better options than grabbing the quickest thing in sight. Find out what foods actually help—and which ones might make it worse—in this week’s blog.

A fun fact is that I learned this week is that carbohydrates are the only source of energy that can fuel the brain and central nervous system, which require a constant supply of glucose to function properly.

A highlight that was made in this post is that health behaviors are influenced more than just just knowing what's healthy. My family also has history of blood pressure and cholesterol. The social and environmental context is a huge barrier even by knowing the scientific information of diet.
One barrier of unhealthy eating I struggled with is unhealthy diet of friends and family. Growing up my family had a history of high cholesterol and blood pressure; this was a result of being used to consuming foods rich in oils/butters but low in vegetables and fruits. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
