America is Red Lobster. Though it was better than some places, it was never really "great." Many other countries had far better offerings. You could still afford it, & although it was mediocre, there were still a couple of good things (at least the biscuits were good).

I become more convinced by the day that the Trump regime, as well as bulldozering the rights of vulnerable and marginalised people, will crash the US economy in a truly spectacular fashion. We all need to brace.

This quilt circa 1935, tiny stitches of a flower garden pattern, lovingly made for a baby boy. He was breech and my grandmother almost died. Then whooping cough and he almost died. And now it seems unbelievable there are some who are against science and what it has given to reduce human suffering.

Last year was rough, but on the very last day of it an old friend reached out to say hello. So I’ll count it as good. I had a lovely day at home on the first day of the new year, I’ll count that as good too.
