Agree. I read that Bichette chose not to go to WBC so he has a full ST to work on playing 3rd base. My new favorite player for that alone.

Until I realized he was wearing the cap of his team in Japan, I thought he had been traded to the Padres.

He’s my new favorite player.

I don’t get why this is at all significant.

They didn’t get. That’s what it takes to get a top pitcher, even for one year. I think they’re a favorite to make the post season. In Stearns we trust.

How do you get $42 million?

Robert has a lot more upside than Bader. Worth a shot, especially since they didn’t give much to get him.

That’s a great one. And not entirely implausible.

They must think Skenes will bring in a lot of viewers. Can’t think of any other reason that game would interest a national audience.

I booed Richie Hebner. He made clear he hated being there and made no effort. Even dropped some routine popups. Other than that, I don’t remember booing any Met.

Will it help his hitting?

He didn’t do much as a player but I thought he would be a manager someday. Did well as AAA manager and coach. He sounded really smart in interviews. He really understood the game. They went with Harrelson then Torborg instead. We know how that worked out.

I thought Mets had won the trade when it was but Taveras turned out to be nothing special. Foli helped the Pirates in their 1979 World Seres run.

Interesting. Who would they get in return?
December 18, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Mets made it clear publicly that Williams was a hedge in case Diaz left and a setup man if Diaz returned. Was it not reasonable to hedge? Did he really think the Mets would bring him back as an 8th inning guy? He chose the Dodgers which was his prerogative. He didn’t leave because he was insulted.

I think this shows that once the Dodgers swooped in he was lured by the chance to win a World Series, even to the point where he turned down additional years from the Braves. I don’t think it has anything to do with loyalty or lack of loyalty to/by the Mets.

So Stearns signed off on Mets signings while he worked for the Brewers?

I've been attending Met games since Jesse Gonder was catching Jack Fisher with Joe Christopher in the outfield. The game has, and continues to change. For better and for worse. We now root for uniforms as much as players. It's a mercenary's game and big business, but it's still beautiful. #LGM

Their comfort level is rational but the market isn’t. Sometimes you have to live with discomfort.

You have to think at some point Cohen will step in but who knows.
