At his confirmation hearings, Scalia was asked if it would have been OK for Reagan to pick him among other qualified candidates *because* of his Italian heritage, in order to make the Court more diverse. "No, I think that is a good thing," Scalia said. ballsandstrikes.substack.com/p/antonin-sc...
