Hawley’s plan is to give $600 to taxpayers with incomes below $75,000. Apparently, Hawley thinks that people in that income bracket are all MAGA and that Biden voters are all wealthy elitists. I’m in that income bracket, and I’m not MAGA. Besides, $600 is nice but not exactly a windfall.

What a shame! My roots are in Oklahoma. I was born there and lived there until my father relocated to Florida when I was in middle school. I returned there twice in the 1990s when relatives of mine died; haven’t been back since. I really don’t remember Oklahoma being as bad as it seems to be now.

According to the BBC, corn farmers are not happy about this. I might add that while it’s less powerful than it once was, Big Sugar remains a major industry in Florida.

Using letters in phone numbers. For example, my phone number when I was a kid began EL5, or “Elgin 5.” This was in the 1960s. Also, it was a big deal when area codes were introduced, because you no longer had to call an operator to place a ling-distance call.
