Can AI make Freudian slips? The other day, I did a Google search on “west hollywood musk permits.” I was looking for information on how Musk’s new Tesla Diner got permission to erect its massive video screens. Google’s AI thought that I wanted to learn about getting rid of infestations of muskrats!

According to the BBC, corn farmers are not happy about this. I might add that while it’s less powerful than it once was, Big Sugar remains a major industry in Florida.

This remarkable photo was posted on Facebook recently. It purportedly shows the “Alligator Alcatraz” as seen from a rural home in Florida. The post specifically mentioned light pollution and noise. Florida’s leaders used to at least pretend to care about the “River of Grass.” Not any more, it seems.

My baby died in 2020, but I fondly remember him.

I can’t adopt this beautiful cat because I live 3000 miles away. But I will note that my last cat was a grey-and-white tuxedo named Brutus. I gave him that name because the SPCA volunteers said he was a “tough guy.” Not really true, except for my furniture. Died in 2020 at the age of 16 or 17.

I’m sure many of you have seen this Onion front-page mockup.

I got a laugh out of this meme. (To be fair, the second image appears to have been taken before the parade.)

So Biden and Harris were destroying the nation? Classic example of projection!

Last year, I sat in a packed movie theater and watched the recent Godzilla movie. I guess every person in that theater is a menace to society. I hear rumor that Godzilla himself is unhappy (see photo).

I see that Phelan’s press secretary—a former Breitbart writer—is taking the blame.

A UK scholar refers to the “4Chanification of American politics.” In other words, politics now copies Internet trolling. This befits a president who got elected because he posed as a tough guy on TV. Screenshots from a recent useful Agence France-Presse article. www.france24.com/en/live-news...

Chaos??? Is some projection going on?—“the process by which one attributes one’s own individual positive or negative characteristics, affects, and impulses to another person or group. . .unpleasant or unacceptable impulses, stressors, ideas, affects, or responsibilities are attributed to others.”

A lot of folks on this platform are following the special election in my home state for a replacement for former Congressman Mike Waltz, well-known Signal user. The Republicans are favored to hold this seat, but this poll indicates that it’s neck-and-neck.

A recent poll indicates that my home state of Florida remains pretty solidly red. Slightly over half of Florida voters support Trump and DeSantis. Support is strongest in North Florida, where a special election to replace Gaetz will take place on 4/1.

This item popped up in Facebook feed. A musical event showcasing young Black musicians had been scheduled for mid-April at the Kennedy Center. But the organizers decided to cancel. Here’s the official announcement.

My goodness! I thought I was the only one to name a cat Brutus. I called him that because the SPCA volunteer called him a tough guy. He lived from about 2004 to 2020. He mangled my sofa, but was very sweet.

"[Robert F.] Kennedy [Jr.] said Texas doctors had seen 'very good results' from treating measles with the steroid budesonide, the antibiotic clarithromycin and cod-liver oil. None of these treatments have been shown in studies to be effective against measles." -- Aria Bendix, NBC News

Fascinating graphic from WOFL-TV in Orlando, showing how much territory was affected by SpaceX’s “anomaly,” this “rapid unscheduled disassembly.”

It’s not easy to let go of a sweet cat. It’s been 5 years, but I still miss this guy.

I learn via Bluesky that the Washington Post is going to change its motto to a promise to deliver “riveting storytelling.” OK, but why should I care about rivets? Just asking questions. . .
