Really do think they should have just provided an extra incentive to S&S over cash, rather than limiting cash, but fine, that might have *some* impact.

But these restrictions seem counterproductive - if you can’t derisk effectively, you’ll probably restrict investment up front in order to keep cash

But making interest taxable will add needless complexity…

And potential bans on eg MMFs will prevent people from derisking as effectively as they approach a large purchase/retirement.

Obviously someone has spotted the fact you could just leave uninvested cash in a S&S ISA, which would not help the Gov’s aim of “more investment”.

This is a massively dumb way to fund things. Just fund local government properly through fiscal devolution, council tax reform, and social care reform. Oh, wait, you ducked all of those again....
