Good morning, friends! Happy Friday! I've made a 2025 awards eligibility post for my published horror fiction this year!
Woke at 3 to a godawful clanging and came downstairs to find three of the cats trying to disassemble one of the baseboard radiators to get at the mouse hiding up inside it. (mouse has been removed, cats have been given treats to assuage their disappointment)

Me, testing my luck: "Or else what?"
6: "I'm not telling you!"
Me: "I'll call that bluff. Hit me with your best shot."

At the gas station the 20 y.o. ringing me up was v preoccupied with flirting with his coworker behind the counter, & watching them (subtly! not, like, creepily) made me remember so vividly for a second what that felt like. Being that age, having those interactions.
And then it made me feel SO old.

I know many new writers worry about how readers will receive their work. That’s a valid concern! That said, two things:
1. This gig is only worth it if you write what YOU want.
2. Some will hate your stuff, but some will like it. Your readers. They’re awesome. Write for them.

I just tilted one of my lamp's adjustable lights down to better see if the dark spot floating on the surface of my coffee was a coffee ground or a fruit fly, and two dead bugs fell out of the lampshade and directly into my mug.
